Affiliate Marketing: should you use a blog to promote affiliates or a single landing page?

Published by silverfern at 9:23 pm under earning money online Edit This

Many people put affilite links into blog posts. This is a serious mistake in my opinion. Blogs are essentially journals, and the post that contains the affiliate links will soon come off the front page as new posts are added. In addition, the number of hits to that particular post from search engines will be low, and there is no guarantee that those who do visit will click on the link.

It’s much better to put affiliate links onto a single targetted landing page such as those you can set up with Squidoo or Hubpages, or a static website. Static landing pages tend to have a myriad of information about to your topic (way more than the average blog post), and hence will attract a lot of interest from the search engines. Moreover the traffic they get will be interested in the subject matter of the landing page and hence more likely to click on any affiliate links.

Blogs are better for general advertising (either pay-per-impression advertising or pay-per-click advertising) rather than selling via affiliate links.
