Is the recession affecting the online world?

The social bookmarking site Thoof closed down last year, and the writing site thisisby.us will close in February. Now sponsored post organisation Payperpost have reduced their rates to as little as $0.50 for 200 words. It’s just not worth bothering with. For starters, you will have to ruin your blog writing about some dire product that you would not normally write about. And their terms require you to write three posts - one “nomal” post before and after the sponsored post. And their payment is a one off, no payments for pageviews or anything. It’s a grand old waste of time.

If you do wish to earn from blogging, you would do better to join Today.com (see the badge in the sidebar). They pay for the amount of unique visitors you get, as well as a small upfront payment. The real money you make is from writing good valuable stuff that the search engines send traffic to in large quantities.
